ban submit by game |
| Joined: 08/05/05 Activity: | perhaps to aid in speeding up demo reviewing make bans submited by game, cs and css/ dodand dods and so on, have specific admins to review only the games they play. seems there are far more cs and css demos than anything else, makes the rest of us wait a long time and then for those admins that dont play our game they almost always dont have the map. also display pending demos by game. so many pending for cs/css so many ending dod/dods to give us an idea of the real wait time. Nope, you basically described the current system. Out of the 20 or so voting admins, each votes on the game or games that he or she is owns, uses, and is familiar with. Let's say I only use DOD:S & 1.6 - well, those are more than likely the only games I'll vote on, unless special circumstances require otherwise.
As for common maps, yes, admins do have the most 'common' maps for each game, but most demos are not on common maps. That means admins have to *waste* time searching for custom maps, which makes the whole process take longer for everyone. Solution: please upload custom maps in the evidence file to speed up the process.
And as for real wait time, unfortunately, we can't just give one blanket number or even suggest a number. Every submission will differ in wait time due to a number of factors including the map, length of demo, type of hack allegedly used, quality of demo, type of gameplay in the server the demo was recorded on, and so on.
Hopefully, I've answered your question? Posted: 21/09/08 19:28:21 | Delete | Edit | Quote | Send IM |

I think I can give you a quick overview about the voting process.
Each demo got into a pool sorted by game mod. That's what you suggested here.
But that's only the first sorting. We seperate these subs again.
Our system bot generate a blatancy rating on each subs considering several facts I don't want to post here. In addition the blatancy will be adjust by the rating of the submitter. There will be only a upgrade on that factor not a downgrade.
Each voting admin within steambans staff got a maximum blatancy level. He can vote on every submission which matches his blatancy rating or higher. F.e. junioradmin can't see/vote on every submissions in the first place.
After the first reviewing/vote the system will adjust the blatancy. If it shows cheating the blatancy goes up so more admins can access that demo. If it doesn't show cheating or it's not clear, the blatancy will go down.
I think that will make the process a bit more transparent.
About the voting admins : we got several admins who are specialists in their certain mod but we rate our admin depends on mods hl1 or hl2. Ofc if an admin has no experience in a certain mod he isn't allowed to vote there. But please remember: cheats work mostly the same on the engine they are running.
About map uploading: please keep in mind that the voting admin does not need to be part of your gaming community or isn't in your timezone/part of the world, so custom maps can be hard to find. If I remember correct we mostly got problems to obtain your custom maps here in europe.
greetings
Wook

I don't think that's the best solution as some admins already may have that specific map and it would only consume our precious demo-storage space.
It would be better if you provided us(in 'comment' textbox) with a URL where we can download that specific custom map. Posted: 22/09/08 12:24:08 | Delete | Edit | Quote | Send IM |

| | Joined: 08/09/04 Activity: | Just a short note from me as voting staff, Some servers run special sprites/models which you can only get on that certain server. If you know that your server/or the server you record demos on,use special sprites, wads, models or so,please zip those up and provide that for us.
This will also help speeding up the voting process.
