When someone is removed from the server, the message that goes along with their kick is something along the lines of "You are banned from this server by steambans. Visit www.steambans.com
for more information"Posted: 30/11/04 19:53:09 | Delete | Edit | Quote | Send IM

Merlin here for your amusement
there is a plugin but it is in testing atm,
The scanner works by utilising the server rcon and and every few minutes it does an "rcon status" if any steam ids in the status match the database then it announces the ban in "rcon say" and then kick bans the ID for a set period of time.
for more information on the scanner read at link below :-

|As Jim pointed out a banned.cfg is simply not flexible enough. By having the scanner doing the work we can completely control who is beeing banned and for how long. |
Plus the person banned need to know if a ban is issued by us, or a local server ban, and by having the scanner notifying the server and the person before it kicks him/her is a valueable thing that would be eliminated if the person simply got a message like "your banned on this server" when they try to connect.
Thats true. It would be to much work to have to update the banned.cfg everyday and have everyone download it. The way they have it is fine

what exactly is a "Banned.cfg"?Posted: 12/04/05 12:06:32 | Delete | Edit | Quote | Send IM
A file on your server with the banned STEAM_ID's, those can't enter then.
Anyway, we don't give them out so need to get into details Posted: 12/04/05 12:07:34 | Delete | Edit | Quote | Send IM

Yo, you guys said i was banned a year ago, which is not true. You can check the Cal-O info on the summer league and you will see that i was on a team and was not banned, so i believe i am allowed to appeal my ban, thank you very much.Posted: 31/12/05 04:17:19 | Delete | Edit | Quote | Send IM

Please do not mix up Vac (what is Valve) and SteamBans - If you were banned by VAC your ban will expire automatically - SteamBans bans are permanent.
If you are banned by vac or Steambans you can still play on Servers that are not protected by VAC & Steambans - your account is not affected either.Posted: 31/12/05 13:07:45 | Delete | Edit | Quote | Send IM
guys, my account has been banned. i have never cheated so i can't understand why it's banned?
was about to play whit my mates when it came up that my account has been banned because of cheating.. how can i get rid of it? Posted: 09/01/06 14:31:46 | Delete | Edit | Quote | Send IM
Sounds like a VAC ban - But you can still check here ----> DB Search
to see if you're banned by Steambans also. If you're banned by Steambans you can use the link on the right Ban Protest
to dispute your ban.
If you're VAC banned, then as Pulp stated right above your post, VAC (Valve Anti Cheat) is not the same thing as Steambans. You'll have to take up your ban with them.Posted: 09/01/06 15:45:30 | Delete | Edit | Quote | Send IM
