Code of Conduct (CoC) |
View this guide in the language:

SteamBans.com allows all teams and servers to have their own individual banning list, and tries not to dictate how to administer it.
However we will not allow abusive and power sick admins to get access to our services. Therefore we have set up some guidelines as of how to behave.
Admins CoC
Respect all players
Admins of a server should act as good examples and lead by example.
An admin is a leader, which means that he should lead by example. Should an admin suspect a person for being a cheater, this admin should gather the evidence and submit this to us. Admins should not accuse players on insufficient grounds, or because of rage. By doing so, an admin looses respect among the community and furthermore shows the rest of the players that it is ok. We do NOT condone behavior that leads to false accusations and whining/moaning because this lowers the respect towards the server - community and in the end, us.
Players CoC
Respect all players
This is essential for the well being of a community server. All players must be regarded equal with no regards to their personal skills.
Show respect to get respect
Players with a bad attitude are not productive players to have in a community, regardless of skill. A skilled player can help the community as a whole increase their skills, but not if the player does not show respect.
Server is not for arguments
A game server is a really bad place to have an argument, and if the admin is stressed he is most likely to try to cut down on the stress factor in the game, much likely being a over-argumentative player. Use IRC/MSN/WebPages Forums for discussion; dont take an argument into a server.
Abusive language
We frown upon the use of abusive language in all situations, but will not dictate to servers whether they should use it or not. We simply submit to you that a server where people are not allowed to swear, and where admins are harsh in respecting it, the playing environment is cleaned for unnecessary accusations and rage-bursts. Again we would like admins to lead by example, and we will not allow admins to be abusive and flaming in rage. Therefore we will look very seriously on admins' behaviors on servers, and individual or mass termination of access to services may be in question should we receive numerous substantiated reports of abuse.
SBQC SteamBans control organ
SteamBans.com admins will conduct anonymous evaluations of behaviors on servers, meaning they will from time to time visit different servers and monitor the way that admins behave and how they may solve issues.
However they will never provoke or try to create an unpleasant situation in order to see a reaction, and they will always obey the individual server rules.
The visits are not conducted to find flaws in an admin team but to make sure that this CoC is followed both by admins and players, and to help an admin team on a server/community to get better organized.
SteamBans is in the progress of setting up this supervision-system.
Punishments
We do NOT condone any actions that would be seen as admin abuse, and should we receive enough substantiated reports that a team (or individual admins) has/have conducted themselves in a inappropriate matter, we will:
Warn the team/admins
and should they not do anything about it we will:
Terminate them from our services.
Ending Note
It is the individual community member, team or community's own responsibility to keep up with changes in the CoC. Changes may be announced as news, but do not count on it. |
