SBSRV
What is this?
The SteamBans Server plugin (SBSRV) is a metamod plugin for HL1 engine mods. The plugin allows the server it is installed on to check the SteamBans blacklist for matches, and then act according to the plugin settings on that server.
How does it work?
When a player connects to the gameserver, SBSRV collects the STEAM_ID, and queries SteamBans main blacklist server and the main blacklist server replies whether the player is banned or not. If the player is banned, SBSRV will act as the local settings dictate. SBSRV does NOT detect cheats
What do I do when I see a cheater on a steambans protected server?
SteamBans has developed a safe way to validate STEAM_IDs, and it's called SB_STATUS. The command is open on all SteamBans protected servers, and if you see a cheater you simply record a demo, and while recording type sb_status, and then afterwards submit it to SteamBans.
What are the good sides of SBSRV in comparison with the other services?
SBSRV is SteamBans own service for the server, that means that we will continue to develop services and systems that are supported by SBSRV. SBSRV is small and doesn't impact your server's performance.
